Living in the shadows had never been a problem for Pakhet – it was simply a matter of sticking to the rules: The rules of the shadows and her own personal set of rules. Both are easy to remember, easy to stick to, at least that is what Pakhet thought. That is until a team of runners sets off a terror alert in Hamburg and her curiosity gets her stuck with those runners, well, or one of them at least.
Soon she does not only see her world view crumbling, but also finds herself fighting not only for her own life.
This story is a write-up of the misadventures of our Shadowrun-group. We started playing this campaign in November 2014, but this story starts with the moment my second character – Pakhet – entered the storyline.
A small word of warning: This story is completely written from Pakhet's perspective, which means that it is not always accurate when it comes to the depiction of the story – this is especially true, when it comes to the depiction of the other characters, as Pakhet has a rather low opinion on some of them (and – at least in the beginning – a rather high opinion of herself). ;)
Trigger warning: As this is Shadowrun, some things just happen to be part of the story, though most of them won't play into this story until later on. But still, a fair warning: There will be death (though not as much as in some other Shadowrun-stories), different forms of violence, different cases of abuse, rape and torture.

Active in the shadows for more then seven years Pakhet has a rather high opinion of her own skills. Yet she had made a point out of never getting involved with the kind of elite runs she considers to be suicide missions.
She has a clear set of rules and sticks to it - as well as she expects others to do so. -
Doctor Heidenstein

Player: Seki
Doctor Heidenstein, who by most of the other is just called “Doc”, is a combat medic. He is a rather good medic, but does not like to kill as it violates his moral code as a doctor.
He does his best to have at least a rudimentary understanding of everything he comes across and somehow finds also great pleasure in teaching. He gets along rather well with Pakhet, who is not quite sure whether it is wise to trust him. -
Murphy

Murphy is an elf, a know-it-all and is – in general – to witty for his own good. He grew up on the streets and never got to know his family, but has learned to live with it. His knew “family” are a bunch of street kids that stick together.

Robert Schneider

Profession: Mechanic
Player: NPC
Robert is Pakhet's oldest friend and also her only real friend. While she is confident that she does not need any other friend, he is not that sure about it. Even after seven years he is constantly worried about her doing shadowruns, though he never managed to convince her of another way of life.
He owns a small garage he had inherited from his father, frequently helping Pakhet with car repairs. -
Michael Zubinger

Age: 38
Profession: Fixer, Weapon's dealer
Player: NPC
There are several ways to discribe Michael: Sly, cunning, scheming. He always had been working in the shadows - at least from all everybody else knows.
Michael is the one, who dragged Pakhet into the shadows and even to this day she is not always sure whether she is thankful for that or not. While he is well connected, Michael is one of those shadow creatures everybody has been warned about. He cannot be trusted. -
Dacart

Profession: Thief [Physical Adept]
Player: Dacart
Dacart is young adept and a self-proclaimed master thief, though nobody seems to quite believe in. To say that he has a talent for attracting trouble would be an understatement. Where he goes, something is bound to go wrong.
Yet Dacart has somehow managed to keep a rather optimistic - or foolish - world view. He is actually the one, who is looking for friends in the shadows and somehow manages to see the good rather then the bad in everything that happens. -
Kah Pak

Profession: Shaman
Player: Frank
Kah Pak is a wolf's shaman, though he is certainly no leader. Most of the times he acts considerate, but that does not mean that he never panics. Even though he is strongly connected to animal spirits it seems that it is the spirits of the air, who listen to his call.
Often he leaves the city to go on a hunt with the rest of the family, leading him to be away from the others for weeks at a time. -
Slap

Player: Tobias
Slap is a decker of apparently Asian decent. It is kinda hard to tell, considering that most of his head had already been replaced with cyber-ware. And be it because he is so cybered up or just because he is cold-hearted, he lacks a certain amount of humanity.
This is one of the reasons that he and Pakhet tend to disagree most of the times.
